Now Accepting Applications for GRADUATE INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANTS for Spring 2021, MAIN CAMPUS

The Computer Science department is now accepting applications for Graduate Instructional Assistants for the upcoming spring semester on the MAIN CAMPUS. Applicants must be:

  • Graduate students in the CS department
  • Maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA
  • In good academic standing
  • Regularly-admitted to the graduate degree program (no conditional, non-degree, or graduating senior status)
  • Enrolled in 9-12 graduate hours during the fall semester
  • If a newly-hired international student, must have approval from the International Office to work as a graduate/doctoral assistant
  • If international student, must have passing TOEFL grades
  • Able to work morning and evening shifts
  • Able to work some weekends
  • Work in a team environment
  • Must be able to work remotely AS WELL AS in person
  • Must be in at least their second semester at TxState

Duties of the GIA include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Teach 1428 Lab classes
  • Monitor labs
  • Tutor for Computer Science students
  • Move equipment/furniture
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Face-to-face interview (via Zoom)
  • Skills assessment written exam
  • Demonstration of teaching skills
