GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
The Application Developer will be responsible for building native iOS, Android, and web applications in addition to related backend development. The position will collaborate with a team of developers responsible for application development to enhance VIA’s business processes and customer experience. Development of all projects will require a keen attention to UI/UX and customer focused usability and design.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Designs overall architecture of the application.
- Maintains quality and ensures responsiveness of applications.
- Collaborates with other developers on the team and supports new features.
- Maintains the integrity and organization of the code.
- Implements security and data protection in the applications.
- Documents user requirements and integrates into an agile development process.
- Works side by side with customers throughout product development lifecycle.
- Develops applications with a strong focus on UI and UX designs.
- Designs and prototypes potential solutions to meet the given functional and technical requirements.
- Enhances and debugs the existing applications following best practices and development standards and guidelines.
- Supports production systems; analyzes and resolves production problems in a timely manner; resolves end user service requests as assigned.
- Creates deliverables according to the Software Development Lifecycle such as functional and technical specifications, use cases, test cases, and system documentation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Candidates should have strong knowledge and experience in web/mobile application development. Knowledge of API’s, cloud platforms and SQL database interactions is highly desirable.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of all programming languages is not required but VB.Net and SQL are highly desired.
- Strong expertise in application development on the iOS and/or Android platforms.
- Experience on front-end/server programming languages and libraries are essential.
- Experience working with graphic design and converting designs to visual elements.
- Experience building web services and databases.
- Knowledge of API’s, cloud platforms and SQL database interactions.
- Thorough understanding of multiple SDLC methodologies with an emphasis on Agile.
- Strong knowledge integrating applications with external APIs/web services.
- UI and UX design experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of iOS and Android ecosystems to aid in the construction of interactive and dynamic cross-platform applications.
- Self-motivated, detailed-oriented, have a strong work ethic, process-driven, possess a cando attitude and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Skill in analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting.
- Work requires attention to detail, initiative, independent judgment, and the ability to coordinate projects.
- Ability to communicate well with all team members and clients.
- Ability to provide quality customer service and to convey technical information to nontechnical users.
- Desire to learn and apply new technology to create more engaging, easier to use, and valuable applications.
- Must be a strong communicator both in writing and verbally.
- Must have the ability to read and understand reports, instructions and support documents.
- Must be able to maintain good work attendance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical ability required to be mobile, bend, stoop, twist, sit, stand, reach and occasionally lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Job is expected to be 100% remote
- Work involves deadlines and multiple priorities.
- May be required to work any time of the day, evening or night during the week or weekend to include being on-call as scheduled.
- Training will be provided as needed.
