ABSTRACT: Modern inline runtime verification methods continue to present performance issues when executed within the critical path of the system under scrutiny.

A common solution is to move instrumentation completely offline.  In this thesis, we present a novel instrumentation method called Monitor Stacks.  The goal of Monitor

Stacks is to generate localized trace events and move analysis out of the critical path.  We apply this method to the problem domain of performance isolation breakage

detection to the multi-tenant cloud.
