Title: Measuring Impact of Signal Quality on Deep Learning-Based Gaze Prediction Performance
Abstract: Contemporary gaze prediction research has employs gaze data collected with laboratory-grade equipment. This equipment produces high-quality gaze data that does not represent signal qualities that are reliably achievable with real-world gaze tracking devices. While a thorough understanding of predictive performance is necessary to advance practical gaze prediction, the study of such movements is currently under-represented in gaze prediction literature. This work establishes performance metrics for eye movement-based gaze prediction in these previously unexplored settings through a systematic assessment of deep learning-based gaze prediction on eye movement signals across a wide range of temporal and spatial qualities.
