Course Description:

This course covers fundamental concepts and techniques in data mining and information retrieval. Data mining topics include classification, cluster analysis and pattern mining. Information retrieval topics include Boolean retrieval, vector space model, and Web search.

Course Objectives:

Students will be familiarized with traditional topics in data mining and information retrieval.

They will also be exposed to relevant practical topics and new applications.

Students are required to complete a course project.
