About Internship Courses – CS 4100, CS 5100, CS 7100
- Students can receive one credit hour for an internship by enrolling in a CS Internship Course: CS 4100, CS 5100, or CS 7100.

- The internship course is for Computer Science majors and minors only.
- It is the student’s responsibility to contact the employer to find an internship.
- The Office of Career Services at Texas State can also assist in finding internships.
- When the department receives a notice from the industry for an internship job opening, the job notice is posted to the department´s online posting board within the department website.
The Approval Process
The student must complete the approval process at least a week before the 1st day of class.
- The student must complete the CS 4100 approval form, CS 5100 approval form, or the CS 7100 approval form. The student and internship supervisor (at your place of employment/internship) need to complete sections on the form.
- The student must obtain a copy of the offer letter printed on company letterhead.
- When forms are completed and signed, send all required documents in an email to Karen Hollensbe and request an appointment to meet with the department Chair. Please identify 2 options of days/times that might work for you.
The following documents must be in received by Karen Hollensbe in order to secure an appointment with the CS Chair:- Offer Letter on Company Letterhead
- Completed and signed internship course approval form (for either CS4100, 5100 or 7100)
- CPT form (top portion completed by student) – for international students only
- Offer Letter on Company Letterhead
- If the department chair approves your internship:
- An override will be performed by the department to permit your registration for the appropriate section of CS 4100, 5100 or 7100.
- Once the override is in the system, you will be notified that you are now able to register for the appropriate section of your Internship course.
- International students work with ISSS to file their CPT.
