CS 5375 - Multimedia Computing

Course Description:

A study of digital representation and processing of the major multimedia data types: image, audio, and video. Compression techniques for the three data types, standards, and storage media.

Prerequisite:

Course Objectives:

1.

Emphasis is placed on fundamental concepts of the handling of multimedia data and not on application packages.

2.

Major concerns will include compression algorithms, format conversion and international standards.

3.

Processing of image, audio and video data to enhance quality will also be considered, especially those techniques common to more than one data type.

4.

A major objective of the course is to rovide students with experience in processing of raw multimedia data
