CS 7343 - Mobile Networks and Computing

Course Description:

This course provides an in-depth study of wireless mobile communication networks, wireless network measurements and modeling, channel assignments and coverage, wireless network protocols, mobile data management, wireless security, and various wireless network applications including ad hoc, sensor networks, delay-tolerant networks, and mobile social networks.

Prerequisite:

CS 5310 or CS 5343 or equivalent with a grade of B or higher, or consent of the instructor.

Course Objectives:

The students will be able to:

  • Explain wireless network measurements and modeling

  • Describe wireless channel assignment and coverage

  • Assess wireless network protocols including broadcast and multicast

  • Inspect data management in wireless mobile networks

  • Discuss security issues in wireless mobile networks

  • Compare various wireless network applications such as ad hoc, sensor, delay-tolerant, and mobile social networks
