Now Accepting Applications for GRADUATE INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANTS for Summer 2024, MAIN CAMPUS

The department of Computer Science is now accepting applications for a LIMITED NUMBER of Graduate Instructional Assistants for work beginning in Summer 2024. All applicants must:

  • Have been in the program for a minimum of one semester prior to application.
  • Have a unconditional acceptance to the Graduate Program
  • Muat currently have and maintain at LEAST a 3.25 GPA
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Have passed CS 5301 or Passed the Comprehensive Programming Exam
  • Cannot have any honor code violations
  • Additional requirements are defined in UPPS 07.07.06.

Duties of the Graduate Instructional Assistant are as follows: 

  • Monitor labs – This is to watch over the labs and equipment, to help patrons with specific software problems, to clean the labs, fill the printers, change out toner cartridges, etc. Perform simple maintenance duties such as cleaning up messes, wiping down desktop spaces, cleaning monitors, mice and keyboard. This is also to ensure the smooth operation of the labs.
  • Tutoring duties CS Tutors need to be able to help students in preparation with CS1428 classes. You must be able to explain functions, arrays, etc. to the students. You must have patience and not leave the students without assistance.
  • Teaching Labs CS Graduate students are in charge of teaching the 30+ sections of CS 1428. You will have a pre-determined teaching syllabus to which you must adhere. You will also be responsible for keeping role, keeping grades, and turning your grades in ON TIME.
  • Other Duties – You will sometimes be required to help in more manual tasks, such as moving equipment, furniture, delivering items from building to building.

All applicants MUST be available to work for the week before Summer Sessions begin and the week after Summer Seesions end.
